Illegal gas sale continues in Cumilla

Although the sale of fuel from CNG filling stations is prohibited in any sector other than vehicles, for a long time in Cumilla, container filled cylinders, sometimes multiple cylinders in tractors or three-wheelers or floating cylinders in rickshaws, vans, auto rickshaws, etc are being filled.  Concerned citizens expressed surprise over the news of sale of gas in liquid gas tankers.

 In addition to the energy crisis, illegal syndicates have been accused of embezzling crores of Tk by illegally filling gas cylinders from CNG filling stations and selling them as fuel for cooking. And the name of Nurul Huda filling station in Telikona area of the city has come up in this list.

 Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited is one of the largest in the country. CBA personnel, including a class of unscrupulous officials and employees of the company, have been illegally supplying gas to various places for a long time. Besides, CNG is buying gas from CNG filling stations by making illegal agreements with the station owners. Although the sale of fuel is prohibited, they have been selling gas in containers or floating cylinders without following the instructions.

 Law and order forces, including the Bakhrabad authorities, have been conducting frequent operations against these irregularities. Illegal line disconnection, seizure of goods, seizure of vehicles floating in containers while selling gas.

 The gas thieves' syndicate is changing their tactics at different times to keep their activities normal. Criminals have recently started stealing gas from CNG filling stations with liquid gas tankers.

   Asked about the matter, several senior officials of Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited said on condition of anonymity that filling fuel in gas tankers from CNG filling stations is strictly prohibited. The officials requested to inform the matter directly to the Bakhrabad hotline or higher authorities.

 Visiting the Nurul Huda filling station in the Telikona area of Chawkbazar in Cumilla metropolis, it was seen that a tanker carrying liquid gas was filling up with gas from there. At that time, the truth of the matter was found by talking to the employees on duty there.
