Illegal gas connections at Rupayan cut off

The Titas gas Narayanganj office on Thursday conducted a drive at Bhuigar area under Sadar area real estate company Rupayan town’s area and disconnected seven hundred eighty four gas connections due to illegality in the outstanding seventy two lakh taka.

Deputy general manager of Titas gas engineer Mohammad Saiful Hasan said that the Rupayan real estate company made a contract with us only for two hundred fifty two domestic gas connections but they consumed seven hundred eighty four domestic lines in all flats. He also said that they had found 532 illegal domestic gas connections and the rest 252 were legal, but the legal consumers didn’t pay the bill to the Titas company. He further said real estate company always contract with Titas gas mentioning their number of flats and liability of bill paying is to the real estate company.

 So, the flat owners have to pay bills to the Rupayan housing company according to the real estate company’s rule. Rupayan housing company breached the contract with Titas gas in two ways, given 532 flats gas connection and didn’t pay the bill in due time.

The Titas gas authority with an executive magistrate KM Ishmam, police and RAB forces conducted the drive and disconnected the main regulator of Rupayan housing gas line and thus all the inhabitants of all flats became domestic gasless.

The flat owners of Rupayan housing alleged that they have been paying gas bills to the Rupayan housing authority but they didn’t pay the bill to Titas gas authority that was unknown to us.
