International Islamic University Chattogram (IIUC) is the number one among the six Islamic universities in the country and 14th among 28 universities in the world, said the university's Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Ali Azadi.

He gave this information at an Iftar party organized in honor of journalists at a restaurant in the city last Wednesday. University's board of trustees members, teachers and journalists were present at the time.

IIUC VC said that according to the 2024 Symago Institution Ranking (based on Scopus Index), IIUC has achieved third place among private universities in Bangladesh and 11th place among all universities in the country.

He said, “Knowledge unrelated to the Quran is no knowledge and the International Islamic University Chittagong was established in 1995 with the aim of combining knowledge with morality. The aim of this university is to develop patriotism, humanity, honesty, scientific mind, skills and life-oriented education among the students, as well as to develop them as ideal citizens by combining religion and science.”

IIUC VC said that the university was established at the initiative of renowned people of the national and international arena who are interested in social welfare and development and believe in Islamic values.

Currently, the university has 15 departments under 6 faculties. More than 450 teachers, including 345 full-time teachers, are teaching here. Out of these, 84 teachers hold PhD degrees.

High infrastructure is also a notable aspect of IIUC. The university’s educational activities are being conducted in 42 buildings covering an area of more than 650,000 square feet on its own campus spread over about 50 acres of land.
