Husband Fayez Mia has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his wife in Kishoreganj. Kishoreganj District and Sessions Judge Sayedur Rahman Khan pronounced the verdict in the presence of the accused on Monday noon.
The judge also sentenced the accused to 6 months imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Tk 10,000. Accused Fayez Miah's house is in Alinagar village in Dewghar union of Ashtagram upazila.
It is learned that on July 8, 2019, Fayez Mia, son of Chamir Uddin alias Subal Mia of Madhya Alinagar village, married China Akter, daughter of Akkash Mia of Alinagar Uttarpara.
After 23 days of marriage, on the night of July 30, Fayez Mia went to visit his father-in-law's house. That night, Fayez strangled China and killed her.
When his mother-in-law came to call him for breakfast in the morning, Fayez said that an emergency call had come from home and he should leave immediately and her daughter was told not to call now.
After a long time, without getting any response, the elder sister went to China's room and saw a scarf wrapped around her neck.
Later, the people of the house came running at the call of the
sister.
The next day, on July 31, China's father Akkas Mia filed a murder case with Ashtagram Police Station against Fayez Mia as the sole accused.
