Human chain protest religious fanaticism, extremism in Rajshahi

In protest against the attack on the houses of non-Muslim community people, temples and arson, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Rajshahi organised a human chain as a part of its countrywide programme in front of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Sunday morning.

Scores of doctors, nurses, officials and students of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital participated in the human chain programme. 

The speakers at the human chain demanded to identify the key-players of the communal violence and to bring them under the rule of law immediately. They mentioned, in Bangladesh there is no room for religious fanaticism and extremism and requested all to maintain the religious harmony. They further added it is essential to identify the persons involved with the incidents and to bring them under the rule of law. 

They called upon all people to resist those extremists and said we all should live in society in peace and will observe our own religions.

The human chain was attended, among others, by BMA, Rajshahi President (In-Charge) and the General Secretary  Dr Ataur Rahman Babu and the Principal of RMC Dr Naoshad Ali respectively, Prof Dr Khalilur Rahman, Dr Mahbubur Rahman Badsha and Dr Hafizur Rahman.
