Local people, students and teachers of Rajshahi Science and Technology University, Natore, have formed a human chain demanding arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of Kamrul Islam Zahid, a student of the varsity, beside Natore -Pabna highway at Chalkrampur area on Friday morning.
The human chain was addressed, among others, by Vice-Chancellor of RSTU Dr. M.Shahjahan, Registrar of the varsity KM Abdul Momin, Dean of School of Liberal Arts and Social Science Professor Dr. Saifuddin Chowdhury, Student Adviser Arman Ali, students Ibrahim Hossain, Faisal Ahmed and father of the deceased student Afaz Uddin. Speakers at the human chain demanded speedy arrest of the killers of Zahid and their exemplary punishment.
It is learnt, on January-4 night, some unidentified person called Kamrul Islam over his mobile phone and he went out of his house. Afterwards his mobile phone was found off and his family members could not trace his presence any where nearby. Later on, on next night, local people of Nabin Krishnapur village found a dead body lying inside a mango grove and informed police. Police went to the spot and recovered the dead body of Kamrul from the spot. Rehana Akhter, sister of the victim filed a case with Natore sadar thana in this connection. Police arrested one of the suspected killers from the area in this connection.
