Mymensingh & Kolmakanda Correspondent: A human chain and protest rally were held in Borokhapon Union of Kolmakanda Upazila, Netrokona, demanding the arrest of drug dealers and smugglers operating in the border areas.
The demonstration, organised by the Upazila unit of the Swechchhasebak Dal, took place on Thursday at noon. It drew participation from local public representatives, business owners, students, and people from various professions.
The protest follows a “zero tolerance” stance against drugs and smuggling declared by Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Central BNP’s Legal Affairs Secretary, in his constituency of Durgapur–Kolmakanda.
Speakers at the event included Kolmakanda Upazila BNP General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bhuiyan, Treasurer Jihad Khan Mitul, Swechchhasebak Dal Convener Aynal Haque, and other local leaders and residents.
They expressed concern over the growing spread of drugs and the increasing influence of smugglers in the area, warning that the youth are at serious risk. The speakers urged law enforcement to take immediate and strict action.
They further warned that if those responsible are not arrested soon, a tougher movement would be launched.
