Family members formed a human chain in Jibon Nagar, Chuadanga, demanding the rescue of five individuals from the same village, including a father and son, who have been missing for 20 days. The human chain took place at the Jibon Nagar Muktomancho on Saturday around 11 AM.
The family members stated that the five individuals from Goalpara village in the border union of Jibon Nagar upazila went missing over two days on October 13th and 14th. The missing persons are: Swapan (40), son of Momin Hossain; Abul Hossain (30), son of Atiar Rahman; Anar (52) and his son Shafi (27); and Hasan (27), son of Shaukat Ali. After failing to find them, a kidnapping case was filed against six people at the Jibon Nagar police station on October 21st.
The accused in the case are: Abdul Majid (40), Abdus Samad (45), and Bipul Hossain (50), sons of Abdul Hakim Fakir; Lalon Mondal (42), son of Mansur Ali; and Shahin (32), son of Bablu. The family members at the human chain further said that although 10 days have passed since filing the case, the police have yet to rescue the missing individuals or arrest the accused. They demanded the police promptly rescue the missing persons and return them to their families, threatening larger programs if their demands are not met.
It is mentioned that a dispute arose among gold smugglers in Goalpara village centering on the misappropriation of a gold shipment. Consequently, Anar and his son Shafi went missing on October 13th, followed by Abul, Hasan, and Shafi on October 14th. After the family failed to locate them, Shaukat, as the plaintiff, filed a kidnapping case against six individuals from the same village at Jibon Nagar police station on October 21st.
Regarding this matter, Jibon Nagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mamun Hossain Biswas said that a case has been filed at Jibon Nagar police station concerning the disappearance of the five individuals from Goalpara village. He added that they are trying to rescue the missing persons and arrest the guilty, hoping to uncover the main facts within a few days.
