Housewife murdered by husband

Due to a family quarrel in Moharkaya village of Lalpur upazila of Natore, husband Abdul Jabbar killed his wife Smriti by giving her sleeping pills, squeezing her pillow and throwing her body in a pond.

He confessed to the murder during police interrogation after his arrest and gave a confessional statement under section 164 in court. Natore Superintendent of Police Liton Kumar Saha said this at a press briefing at 11:30 am on Thursday.

Superintendent of Police Liton Kumar Saha further said that on July 18, police recovered the body of Jabbar's wife Smriti Khatun from a pond near Abdul Jabbar's house in Moharkaya village of the upazila. Smriti's father Selim Ali filed a murder case against Abdul Jabbar, son of Isahaq Pramanik of Moharkaya village.

Later, Lalpur police arrested Abdul Jabbar from Old Ishwardi area of Lalpur police station on July 21 with the help of information technology. Later, during police interrogation, Jabbar admitted that he planned to kill Smriti due to a family quarrel. 

He has given a confessional statement of murder in court. Additional Superintendent of Police Tareq Zubair, DB OC Anarul Islam and others were present at the press conference.
