Housewife ‘hacked to death’ in Narayanganj

Miscreants allegedly hacked to death a housewife at Bandar upazila in Narayanganj district early Friday.

The victim was Dipali Rani, 42, wife of Shyama Chandra Das, a resident of Lejas area of the upazila.

Police recovered the body of the deceased on Friday morning.

The victim's husband Shyama Chandra Das was injured in the incident.

The seriously injured husband was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The tenant and manager of the house Farida Begum and her son Siam were arrested by the police in this incident.

The victim's daughter Moly said, "We are four sisters. Two sisters live in their father-in-law's house. At night, there was a loud noise as there was a wedding ceremony in the house next door. My sister and I visited there. After coming from there, I found the door open and went inside and slept. In the morning, when I called my mother to go to work, I saw her in bloody condition. I saw that my father is still alive.''

He further said, "We had a conflict with the tenant Farida about cooking on gas stove. Since that conflict, there have been attempts to kill my parents.''

Bandar Police Inspector (Investigation) Abu Bakar Siddique said that the body of the deceased was recovered and sent to morgue for autopsy. The seriously injured husband was admitted to hospital for treatment.

He also said that Farida and her son have already been arrested on the complaint of the victim's daughter. Farida's husband Farid is absconding.  An operation is underway to arrest him. The details of the incident will be announced after the investigation.
