Houses burnt to ashes in Mirsarai fire

A devastating fire broke out at Islam Chowdhury's house in Dakshin Sonapahar area of Jorarganj Union in Mirsarai on Saturday afternoon. The fire destroyed six houses and two kitchens.  The victims claimed that property including cash of Tk 70 lakh has been damaged due to the fire. 

The main sufferers of the fire are Abul Hossain, Rabiul Hossain and Zakir Hossain. Abul Hossain said that the fire started on Saturday afternoon due to an electrical short circuit and within a moment the flames of the fire spread around. During this time, more than Tk 70 lakh including mobile phones, furniture, documents, gold ornaments and cash were damaged.

Eight houses including two kitchens were burnt to ashes. Locals and two units of Mirsarai Fire Service brought the fire under control after trying for about an hour, locals said.

Imam Hossain Patwari, an officer of the Mirsarai Fire Service and Civil Defense, said, "We rushed to the spot after receiving the news of the fire." 

“The fire started from an electrical short circuit. The amount of damage can be said to be subject to investigation,” he added.
