Holy Padma dip in Rajbari, draws huge crowds

Padma Snan (holy river bath) was held in the Padma River flowing over Rajbari Sadar Upazila.

Thousands of devotees participated in this Padma bath in the area called Dhawapara Ferighat of Sadar Upazila from Saturday morning.

Since morning, thousands of traditional religious men and women, young people worship the goddess with flowers, bel leaves, tulsi leaves, banana leaves in the hope of getting merit. According to Sanatan religion followers Sri Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu bathed at this place of Padma. That is why devotees take Padma Snan at this place of Padma.

According to the organizers of the bathing and memorial festival committee, Sri Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu during his visit to East Bengal around 1503 stayed for some time in the temple of Belgachi Mahaprabhu in Rajbari Sadar Upazila to give religious instruction to the students in the akhara established by Gaur Bhakta Sannyasis. And Shila Bhakti Siddhant Saraswati Tagore entered the temple of Gauranga Mahaprabhu. Gauranga Manamaha­prabhu himself bathed in the beautiful Padma. Padma bath started from there.

Bangladesh Pooja Celebration Parishad Rajbari District Branch Vice President Mihir Chakraborty, Joint Secretary Arun Kumar Sarkar, Organizing Secretary Tanmoy Das, Khanganj Union Puja Celebration Parishad President Apurna Kanti Saha, General Secretary Gokul Chandra Saha observed the overall situation of Padma Bathing.

Apurba Kanti Saha, general secretary of the organizing committee, said a procession was held on Friday afternoon. Bhog Aarti and Mahprasad were distributed at the end of the procession. Padma Snan was held on Saturday. Thousands of devotees come here. This time our 103rd Punyatara Padma Snan was held.

Police members of Rajbari Sadar police station worked with security measures to ensure that the Padma bath ended safely.
