Hockey federation VP Mohammad Yousuf no more

Mohammad Yousuf, vice-president of the incumbent executive committee of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) and acting general secretary of the previous committee, is no more. 

The soft-spoken veteran organiser breathed his last at the Evercare Hospital in Chattogram on Saturday.

The news of his demise was confirmed by Chittagong Divisional Sports Association’s general secretary Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir.

Yousuf was 61. He left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and host of well-wishers to mourn his death.

The renown sports organiser was suffering from diabetes and had a stroke a couple of days ago. He was admitted to the ICU of the hospital where he breathed his last around 9:30am on Saturday morning.

Yousuf had been associated with the Chittagong District Sports Association for a long time. He was a member of Chittagong Mohammedan Sporting Club when the club used to play in the premier football league. Later he was elected as a member of Bangladesh Hockey Federation, where he also became a joint secretary. He served as the acting secretary of the BHF.

Bangladesh Hockey Federation, Bangladesh Olympic Association, different Sports Federation, sports media organization also expressed their deep condolence at the death of Yousuf.

Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hassan Papon expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) Vice-President Mohammad Yousuf. 

In a condolence message, the sports minister prayed for eternal peach of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

“Yusuf was a renowned sports organizer. His contribution to the development of hockey in the country is undeniable,” the minister said, adding that his outstanding contribution to the development of hockey and other sports will be glowing in the country's sports arena.
