Hindu community goes to celebrate Durga Puja in Chuadanga

Durga Puja will be marked at 112 mandaps in four upazilas of Chuadanga district this year with religious fervour and festivity from September 28 to October 2.

It is learnt from District Administration, 31 puja mandaps have been set up in sadar upazila, 35 in Alamdanga upazila, 21 puja mandaps in Damurhuda upazila and 25 in Jibannagar upazila.

Aujoy Haldar, President of Nehalpur Sarbo Janin Durga Mondir, Sadar Upazila of Chuadanga district said, all preparations have been completed to celebrate Durga Puja. On September 28 the idols of Durga Maa will be placed on altar in presence of hindu devotees.

Narayon Halder, General Secretary of the Mondir told this correspondent, Durga Puja is our biggest festival of all pujas. So every body of the community will worship and enjoy this year Durga Puja with free and un-fear.

According to sources, security is significantly ramped up throughout the district to prevent any untoward incidents. Executive Committees of each mandap will appoint volunteers to perform duty day and night with other law and agencies.

Durga Puja is not just prayers, it is a full of celebration with rendering songs, performing music, dance sequencing, distribution of food and clothes among poor people, said Surash Kumar Saha, President of Shree Shree Durga Mondir, Boro Bazaar in Chuadanga district town.

Superintendent of Police in Chuadanga Khandaker Golam Mowla said members of Ansar and other agencies members will be at each mandap round the clock to ensure safe and peaceful celebrations.

He also said, police including other law enforcement agencies will take extensive measures to create a festive environment.

Mohammad Zahirul Islam, DC of Chuadanga said, District Administration has set up a series of instructions for the local administration and law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order during puja celebration in the district. 

It may be mentioned here. Gobinda Chanra Biswas from Taltal in Chuadanga district town said, I have bought new dresses, foot wears and other necessary commodities for my family members to put on during Durga Puja festival. I think this year’s festival will be remarkable than previous years as government and locals will give us all kinds of positive opportunity to mark Durga Puja.
