Angry locals blocked the highway for hours with the body of school student Robin, who was stabbed to death by miscreants in Bogura. Robin's classmates including the locals demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the murder by blocking the Godarpara area of Bogura-Naogaon highway from 3 pm to 4 pm on Saturday.
It is to be noted that at around 9:30 pm on Friday night, the miscreants stabbed Rabiul Islam Rabiul Islam Rabin (17), a student of the ninth class, and escaped. Later the locals rescued him in critical condition and took him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. He died while undergoing treatment there. The deceased Robin is the son of Naushad of North Godar neighborhood.
Locals blocked the regional highway at 3 pm after the body was brought home after the post-mortem. Vehicular traffic stopped on Esam Bogura-Naoga road. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck on both sides. The protestors raised slogans demanding that those involved in Rabiul's murder be quickly arrested and brought under the law and hanged.
Meanwhile, the hour-long road blockade caused severe traffic jams on the Dhaka-Bogura and Bogura-Naogaon roads. Common people suffer in this. Bogura Sadar Thana police went to the spot after receiving the information.
When Sadar Police Station OC Nur Alam assured the speedy arrest of those involved in the murder, the local people lifted the road blockade and went to bury the body.
The victim's father filed a murder case on Saturday afternoon.
