Helpless patients get cheques in Kishoreganj

In Kishoreganj, the District Social Services Department is distributing cheques worth Tk 1.14 crore among 228 helpless patients suffering from cancer, kidney, liver cirrhosis, congenital heart disease and paralyzed stroke. 

The programme was inaugurated on Tuesday noon in the conference room of Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner by distributing cheques among 41 people of Sadar upazila. District Social Services Office Deputy Director Kamruzzaman Khan presided over the programme. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Nazmul Islam Sarkar, Jail Medical Officer Dr. Himel Saha Himu, District Social Services Office Assistant Director Shahnaz Parveen, Journalist Sajan Ahammed Papon, Aminul Hoque Sadi and others were present.

According to Social Service Office sources, grants are given to helpless patients as part of various programs under Social Service Department. The government provides assistance to patients with chronic diseases such as cancer, kidney, liver cirrhosis, paralyzed stroke, congenital heart disease and thalassemia. Under the financial assistance program, a grant of Tk 1.14 crore will be given to each of the 228 people in Kishoreganj district at the rate of Tk 50,000 each.
