‘Help continue pace of dev thru objective journalism’

Informative and objective news publication is essential to continue the development process of the country.

 Journalists are contributing to the development of the country by presenting the socio-economic and infrastructural progress of the country to the world through their writings. That is why newspapers are known as the fourth foundation of a country. 

State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said this at the reception accorded to him by Sylhet District Press Club at the Press Club auditorium in Sylhet on Saturday.

Sylhet district press club senior vice-president Moniruzzaman presided over the reception and former president of district press club Al Azad, general secretary of district press club Shah Didar Alam Chowdhury, executive editor of daily Uttarpurba Tapas Das Purkayst, bureau chief of daily Jugantar Sangram Singh and acting editor of daily Yugveri Apoorba Sharma delivered their speeches.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the State Minister for Expatriate Welfare said that the Prime Minister is very sincere in improving the quality of life of the people of Sylhet. At present, Dhaka-Sylhet four-lane, Sylhet-Tamabil six-lane, numerous development works are underway. When these works are completed, the communication system of Sylhet will be improved; Sylhet's communication and trade with the rest of the country will increase.

Stating that he wants to serve the people with his best, the State Minister for Expatriate Welfare said that the government is working to ensure that expatriates get all kinds of facilities. The contribution of expatriates is very important in building a smart Bangladesh so they need to be converted into skilled manpower.
