A severe heatwave is sweeping over Meherpur. For the past few days, the temperature in Meherpur-Chuadanga region has been hovering between 39 and around 41 degrees Celsius.
Common people have been suffering from severe heat for last few days. People do not go out except any urgent work. Most of the people are in trouble due to excessive hot weather. Daily income of the day laborers has declined. They have to spend their days in trouble with their families.
Rahim Sheikh, a rickshaw puller of Meherpur, said, “There are very few people on the street. I am not getting enough passengers. Moreover, I cannot stay on the road for a long time due to the hot weather. There are six people in my family. I have to earn to feed them. I had to take some loan for the necessary expenses in last few days.”
Many people in the district have been waiting for rain for last few days. Due to heat, people are getting tired with little effort. Many people are suffering from various diseases due to scorching heat.
