Leaders of Bangladesh Health Assistants Association, Rajshahi unit, at a press conference held at Rajshahi Press Club on Tuesday noon have declared to observe work abstention from November 26 unless their demand to resolve pay scale disparity through the amendment of recruitment rule.
In support of the countrywide programme, BHAA, Rajshahi will also observe the works abstention programme including the EPI programme.
Earlier, from October-24 last all programme of MR campaign has been kept suspended on the same demand.
BHAA, Rajshahi unit leaders informed, all the Health Visitors, Assistant Health Visitors and Health Assistants are neglected and victim of pay disparity from the very first day of their job.
Although on December-6,1998 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared to end the pay scale difference and the posts as technical status, no action according to the declaration has yet been taken. Even, the Health Minister assured to accept their demand and signed to a memorandum but no action has taken so far.
Masum Ali, President of BHAA, Rajshahi informed, the recruitment rule should be revised immediately and the Heath Assistants should be given pay on scale-13, Assistant Health visitors at scale-12 and Health visitors at scale- 11. The qualification of entry to these posts should also be graduate instead of HSC, otherwise, they threatened to start work abstention from November-26 next.
The press conference was attended, among others, by General Secretary of BHAA Saidur Rahman, Secretary General Kazi Ashraf Uddin and Organising Secretary Kabir Hossain.
