The High Court (HC) on Monday passed an order, forming a committee to publish reliable Bengali text of basic laws to expedite use of the language in court.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order, also issued a rule in this regard.
Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir moved a writ and said the court in its order, asked Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs to form the committee with Bangla Academy, Law Commission, Faculty of Law and Bengali Department of Dhaka University and submit a progress report in this regard.
Ten lawyers had filed the writ, pleading for court's direction to translate the basic civil and criminal laws made those readable in Bengali.
