Hathurusingha joins training camp in Mirpur

Chandika Hathurusingha joined the training session with the national cricket team at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

He was seen to be greeted by ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, then he met with other cricketers in the ground and BCB director Khaled Mahmud Sujon.

Hathurusinga arrived on Monday night to begin his second stint as head coach of the Tigers. 

"I am very happy to be back. I like the people of Bangladesh, that's why I came again," Hathurusingha told the media at Hazrat Shahjalal International airport after touching down at around 10:36 pm.

The 54-year-old served the Bangladesh team from 2014-2017 in his first tenure. After the South Africa tour in 2017, he abruptly left the country before making a brief return to Bangladesh with the Sri Lankan team as its head coach.

Bangladesh played the ODI World Cup quarterfinal in 2015, semifinal of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy under his tenure.The team beat Pakistan, India and South Africa at home in three consecutive ODI series.
