Hasan visits Bangabandhu’s monument in London

After attending the World Climate Conference in Glasgow, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting and the Joint General Secretary of the Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud paid his respects by laying a wreath at the monument of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in London on Saturday afternoon local time.

This monument of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been placed on the premises of his residence on the initiative of UK Awami League leader Afsar Sadeq.

At the time, Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud thanked the UK Awami League leader Afsar Sadeq for placing this monument of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of all time, in his backyard. He had to endure major legal obstacles for placing this sculpture.

There was even a case filed in London,  that case was even taken to the High Court. After winning that case, he set up the sculpture of Bangabandhu.

"His respect and love for Bangabandhu is an expression of respect and love for the country, for the Bengalis, for which I thank and congratulate him a lot," the minister said.

Dr Hasan Mahmud after his visit, spoke on the phone with Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, a prominent journalist, columnist and writer who was undergoing treatment there. The Minister inquired about his treatment and health and wished him a speedy recovery. Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury also thanked the Minister for his inquiries.

The information minister is scheduled to return to the country on November 18.
