Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali Takes Charge as New CMP Commissioner in Ctg

Deputy Inspector General Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali has assumed charge as the 34th Commissioner of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).

He formally took over responsibilities on Wednesday at the CMP headquarters. Senior officials of CMP welcomed the newly appointed commissioner with floral greetings. Later, he received charge from outgoing Commissioner Hasib Aziz, BPM.

After assuming office, the new commissioner held an introductory and exchange-of-views meeting with senior officers at the CMP conference room in Laldighi. During the meeting, he instructed officers to ensure people-friendly policing with honesty and integrity. He also emphasized strengthening overall city security and adopting a zero-tolerance policy against theft, robbery, extortion, drugs, and corruption.

This meeting included Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic, Administration & Finance) Wahidul Haque Chowdhury, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime & Operations) Muhammad Faisal Ahmed, Deputy Police Commissioner (Sadar) Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Deputy Police Commissioner (South) Hossain Mohammad Kabir Bhuiya, Deputy Police Commissioner (DB-North) Md. Habibur Rahman Prang, Deputy Police Commissioner (DB-South) Sheikh Shariful Islam, and Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic-North) Nesar Uddin Ahmed, along with other senior officials.

It is noted that Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali joined the Bangladesh Police in 1999 through the 18th BCS cadre. During his career, he has served in key units including Chattogram Metropolitan Police, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). He also served successfully in United Nations peacekeeping missions in Liberia, Haiti, and Mali.

Before joining CMP, he was serving as DIG (Logistics) at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
