Harbhajan shows interest to take part in BPL

Harbhajan Singh has expressed interest to play in the forthcoming BPL. The right-arm spinner has also communicated BPL team Chittagong Challengers in this regard.

Syed Yasir Alam, CEO of the Chattogram Challengers, confirmed the development to Cricfrenzy on Tuesday.

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), no Indian cricketer or former cricketer can play in any franchise league outside the country. However, Harbhajan can seek special permission from BCCI.

Meanwhile, the Chittagong Challengers also looking forward to including Harbhajan in the team.

“Initially we had a discussion. Let's see how the rest can be done. We have been approached from his side. He is not in the contract with BCCI. Also, not in IPL. There are team rights,” said Yasir Alam.

“Yuvraj Singh has also played outside the country. We thought if we could take a chance. He is a very big star. Let's see if what happens,” he added.

Meanwhile, Eight has shown interest in participating in this year's BPL. Six of them have already been selected. BCB will formally approve the six teams by next Thursday (December 16). As there is no icon cricketer in this year's event. Each team is getting a chance to take one mega star cricketer in the team.

The BCB couldn’t host the BPL last year due to Covid-19. Franchises may return in the upcoming BPL where six teams are likely to take part. BPL is scheduled to be held between 20 January and 20 February next year.
