The government has announced two packages for performing Hajj this year. The package 1 will cost a total of Tk 527,340 and package 2 will cost Tk 462,150.

The first package under government management is Tk 102,340 more and the second package is Tk 102,150 more than in 2020.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan said this after a meeting on Hajj management in the Secretariat on Wednesday.

He said, “Under the private management Tk 456,530 has been fixed to perform hajj. Under private management, hajj agencies will be able to announce multiple packages in line with the two management packages.”

He added that those who will go to perform hajj this year will have to spend more than Tk 1 lakh as compared to 2020.

The state minister has also said, “In 2020, the third package under government management was fixed at Tk 315,000. This package is not available this year. Hajj pilgrims registered in all the three packages announced in 2020 can complete their registration by transferring to any one of the two packages announced this year.”

Regarding the cost increase to perform hajj, he said, “In 2020, the exchange rate of Saudi Riyal was Tk 23 which is now Tk 24.30. This is also one of the reasons for the increase in the price of the package. In addition, Saudi Arabia has included 15 percent VAT, service charges and taxes on all sectors. The Moallem fee has doubled and house rent has risen. These factors are also responsible for the increase in the price of the package.”

Pilgrims who had completed their registration in 2020 but could not go for hajj due to corona situation will have to finalize their re-registration in 2022. Otherwise, they cannot go for hajj this year and their quota will be cancelled, but they will get their money back as per the rules.

Each hajj agency can send a minimum of 100 pilgrims and a maximum of 300. No agency other than the hajj agency will be allowed to purchase air tickets. No agency can be given more than 300 tickets under any circumstances.
