Those responsible for the killing of Inqilab Manch Convener Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi are enemies of the country, democracy and Islam, said Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Chattogram Metropolitan.
He made the remarks on Friday (19 December) while presiding over a doa mahfil organised by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Chattogram Metropolitan, after Jumu‘ah prayers at the Bangladesh Islamic Academy (BIA) Mosque.
Nazrul Islam said that the fearless soldier and guardian of independence and sovereignty, Sharif Osman Hadi, was murdered as part of an imperialist blueprint. The killing was carried out with the aim of undermining the spirit of the July Revolution of ’24. Therefore, the killers are enemies of the nation. However, he added, consciousness can never be destroyed through murder. The blood of Shaheed Hadi will not go in vain. Inspired by the spirit of the 36 July Revolution, Bangladesh will once again unite and resist, and no hegemonic conspiracy will be allowed to succeed, Insha’Allah.
He further stated that Hadi was killed to create chaos in the country by blocking the path to democratic transition through granting legal recognition to the July Charter via a referendum and holding national parliamentary elections. For this reason, the perpetrators are enemies of democracy. He said that the appropriate way to avenge Shaheed Hadi’s blood would be to accept the challenge of holding a referendum and national elections at the right time.
Muhammad Nazrul Islam also said that covert attacks, vandalism, arson and the creation of anarchy are the habitual practices of the fallen autocracy. Bangladesh will not fall into the traps laid by conspirators. The blood of the martyr will be avenged by building a people-oriented, constitutional movement and creating an environment for elections, Insha’Allah. The struggle against the enemies of sovereignty and democracy will be long. In this regard, he urged the utmost restraint, maintaining stability, and avoiding all forms of violence so that enemies are not given an opportunity to create alternative narratives.
He said that Sharif Osman Hadi’s desire for martyrdom was unquestionable. In his conversations, speeches and statements, he repeatedly and openly expressed his longing for shahadat. His unwavering faith in Allah resonated throughout his words. By drawing upon literature, culture and history, he attempted to rein in the anti-Islamic agendas of the conspirators, and in this effort he was successful.
Muhammad Nazrul Islam said that for this reason, the killers of Hadi are also enemies of Islam. Establishing a truly welfare-oriented state in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah, ensuring the rights of all citizens regardless of religion or ethnicity, will be the rightful way to avenge the martyr’s blood, Insha’Allah.
Speeches at the doa mahfil were also delivered by Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Assistant Secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan Jamaat, Mohammad Ullah, and the khatib of BIA Mosque, Hazrat Maulana Safwan bin Harun Azhari.
Hundreds of worshippers from the mosque participated in the doa mahfil, offering tearful prayers for Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.
Those present included Metropolitan Organising Secretary Dr Muhammad Siddiqur Rahman, Metropolitan Executive Council Member and Kotwali Thana Ameer Amir Hossain, Chawkbazar Thana Ameer Ahmad Khaledul Anwar, Khulshi Thana Ameer Professor Alamgir Bhuiyan, among others.
