This year’s HSC and equivalent examinations will begin across the country on June 26. To ensure a fair, disciplined and fraud-free environment, the education boards have issued a set of 33 instructions for the officers in charge of the examination centres.

The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman and Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee Convener Professor Dr Khandokar Ehsanul Kabir signed the letter with the guidelines on Saturday.

According to the instructions, one hall inspector must be deployed for every 20 examinees, with a minimum of two in each hall. The use of any electronic device inside the exam centres has been strictly prohibited. Only the officer in charge is allowed to carry a mobile phone, which cannot take photographs.

There must be at least a three-foot distance between the seats of the examinees. Strict security measures have also been outlined for receiving and handling question papers. The set prescribed through SMS on the exam morning must be used and unopened sets must be returned to the board.

The presence of police and tag officers during the transport of question papers has been made mandatory. Students must enter the centres at least 30 minutes before the exam starts. Details of latecomers will be recorded and sent to the board.

To avoid gatherings, awareness campaigns using hand microphones will be conducted outside the centres. Posters warning against fraudulent activities must be displayed clearly at the entrances. Centres have been asked to correct admit card errors within four working days.

Only analog watches are allowed in exam halls. The electricity offices have also been requested to take necessary steps to avoid power cuts during exams. Special care has been asked in online information management to ensure a smooth and fair HSC examination.
