‘Govt working tirelessly to make women self-reliant’

Chattogram Zila Parishad Chairman ATM Pear Islam said that the current government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina working tirelessly to make the country’s women self-reliant.

“PM Sheikh Hasina wants to empower women.  Women will not sit for the mercy of others.  We are all working together towards that goal.  The more women participate in the mainstream of society, the more we can progress as a nation.” He said this on Tuesday while inaugurating 4 batches of sewing cutting was held under the Poverty Alleviation and Women Development Project initiative of Chattogram Zila Parishad.   

Zila Parishad Chairman ATM Pear Islam was the chief guest. Chattogram Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Shabbir Iqbal presided over the function. He also said that as part of the constitutional obligation, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started the process of raising the status of women to a higher position in Bangladesh.  Following the path of the Father of the Nation, the empowerment of women in Bangladesh is progressing under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.  

According to the Gender Gap Index of the World Economic Forum, Bangladesh has retained the highest position among South Asian countries in terms of gender equality for three consecutive years.  And according to the World Economic Forum's 'Women's Political Empowerment Index', we are one of the top five countries in the world.

 The women of the country are no longer behind.  

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is implementing multifaceted measures to make backward women self-reliant.  She called on everyone to acquire skills and work to build a smart Bangladesh of the future.

Chattogram Zila Parishad Executive Officer Md. Didarul Alam, Chief Engineer Mohammad Monirul Islam and others were present.
