AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, deputy minister for water resources and former organising secretary of the Awami League, said Bangabandhu dreamed of a hunger and poverty-free Bangladesh. In the golden Bengal of his dreams, he wanted to see the overall development and self-reliance of the country's agriculture and farmers. That is why he called for a green revolution after independence.

He wanted to put a smile on the face of the farmers of this country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government is working in the way shown by Bangabandhu with the priority of farmers. The farmers are getting the benefits provided by the government sitting at home. Therefore, the prosperity of agriculture for the development of the country is undeniable, he said.

He made the comments while addressing a discussion meeting organized by Upazila Krishka League in Naria district on the occasion of 50th founding anniversary of Krishka League. Deputy Minister Shamim said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government is a farmer-friendly government. Thinking of the poor farmers of this country, the present government is distributing agricultural inputs including fertilizers, seeds and pesticides among the farmers with subsidy. Due to the leadership of the Prime Minister, Bangladesh today is self-sufficient in food production.

Enamul Haque Shamim said 20 farmers had to give their lives for fertilizer during the BNP coalition government. At that time the farmer spent his time crying for fertilizer and diesel. The present government has reduced the price of fertilizer by five points. The government is giving a subsidy of Tk 28,000 crore every year. As well as distribution of incentive fertilizers and seeds, supply of agricultural machinery at subsidized prices has continued.

The Deputy Minister said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had formed Krishak League to change the fate of thousands of years of exploited and oppressed peasantry in just a few months in war-torn independent Bangladesh. Krishka League is a partner of many achievements of the country. Therefore, every leader and activist of Krishka League will play a stronger role in bringing Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina to power for the fifth time in the next election as well.

President of Naria Upazila Krishka League Abdur Rahman Master presided over the meeting and General Secretary Rafiq Hawlader was the special guest. Organizing Secretary VP Sirajul Islam Chunnu, Office Secretary Master Shah Alam, Information and Research Secretary Gazi Monir Hossain, Assistant Publicity Secretary Limon Bepari.

Leaders of different levels of the party were present at this time.
