Primary and Mass Education Adviser Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder has emphasized the government's commitment to rectifying errors in textbooks. He stated that substantial mistakes were present in textbooks during the previous Awami League regime.
"We are trying our level best to reduce errors in the textbooks... and the success will be determined after the publication of the textbooks," Dr. Podder said while addressing journalists during his visit to Govt Jubilee High School in Sunamganj on Tuesday.
Dr. Podder, who studied at the school during his childhood, reflected on his time there. He shared that he would travel to the renowned institution from the remote Madyanagar area of the district. "I used to come to school by boat when launch services were not available," he recalled.
Highlighting the legacy of the school, he remarked, "We need to present all the famed schools in the country, such as Jubilee School, before the world."
During the visit, Dr. Podder participated in the year-end class party for third-grade students, cutting a cake with the schoolchildren and sharing joyful moments.
He also toured various parts of the school, including the dormitory and the old launch terminal. The adviser praised the facilities and the vibrant environment of the school, emphasizing the need to maintain and promote such institutions.
The government has been actively working to improve the quality of education, with a special focus on ensuring error-free textbooks. Dr. Podder’s comments come at a time when the education sector is under scrutiny for its curriculum and textbook content.
Govt Jubilee High School, a historic institution in Sunamganj, continues to be a symbol of academic excellence and a source of pride for the region.
