The government has decided to abolish the women quota in teacher recruitment recommendations for entry-level vacant posts at various private educational institutions under the MPO system.

A circular regarding this decision was published on the official website of the Secondary and Higher Education Division on Thursday, May 22. The notice was signed by Siddiqur Zobair, Senior Secretary of the Division.

The circular states: "There will be no women quota in the recommendation process for recruitment to entry-level vacant teaching posts at various private educational institutions."

The decision marks a significant policy change in the teacher recruitment system for private schools and colleges in Bangladesh.

This move has already started sparking discussions about its potential impact on gender representation in the teaching profession within the private education sector.
