Govt remains active to solve problems in jute sector: minister

Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi on Sunday said the present government is working to resolve all problems in jute sector, reports BSS.

“The incumbent government is active to solve all problems in jute sector. The government has fully implemented the Mandatory Jute Packaging Act-2010 and brought back the golden days of jute by taking various programmes,” he said. The minister stated this at a meeting with the members of Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) at the conference room of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

The current government, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has already made mandatory the use of jute bags for packaging a total of 19 products in the country, the minister said. He said the government is working to increase the production and export of raw jute and jute products.

The government is working relentlessly to ensure the use of jute products in the country and fixing the fair price of jute. Textiles and Jute Ministry Joint Secretary Mohammad Khurshid Ikbar Rezvi, BJA President Sheikh Syed Ali, Senior Vice-Chairman Arzu Rahman Bhuiya and former BJA President Md Rezaul Karim were also present on the occasion.
