Govt provides Tk 70 lakh grant to 1,500 non-MPO teachers in Thakurgaon

Ramesh Chandra Sen, presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League and MP of Thakurgaon-1 constituency, said that the government has taken various initiatives to address the crisis of coronavirus. In its continuation, financial assistance has been provided to the teachers and staff of non-MPO registered educational institutions.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a function held at Thakurgaon district administration hall on Thursday morning to distribute financial assistance checks among non-MPO teachers and staff.

From the funds of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, checks worth Tk 70 lakh were distributed among 1219 teachers and 362 employees of non-MPO registered educational institutions in 5 upazilas of Thakurgaon district at a cost of Tk 5,000 to each teacher and Tk 2,500 to each employee.

According to the district administration, out of 394 teachers and 115 employees in Sadar upazila, 22 lakh 57 thousand 500 taka, in Ranishankail upazila 223 teachers and 61 employees, 12 lakh 8 thousand 500 taka, in Pirganj upazila 316 teachers and 91 employees 18 lakh 7500 tala. 

In Haripur Upazila, Tk 11 lakh 55 thousand was distributed among 198 teachers and 66 employees and in Baliadangi Upazila Tk 5 lakh 12 thousand 500 was distributed among 88 teachers and 29 employees.

MP Ramesh Chandra Sen said, “Awami League government has been cooperating with every helpless person in the society in various ways starting from helpless teachers and employees during coronavirus crisis. The government and Awami League are not doing any politics during this crisis. Now our job is to stand by the people and keep them safe from corona.”

He said, “Our economy and materials are certainly not the same as in Europe and the United States, and we must remember that it is the most densely populated country in the world. Even then, with limited capacity, the government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been working to tackle the epidemic.”

Additional Deputy Commissioner Nur Qutbul Alam, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun and others addressed the discussion meeting chaired by Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Dr KM Kamruzzaman Selim.
