The government run income support program for the poorest- JAWTNO project provided financial assistance to 1002 people of Malibari union in Gaibandha Sadar upazila. A function for distribution money was held on the premises of the Union Parishad complex on Sunday with UP Chairman Soyeb Md. Russel in the chair.
Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini attended the function as the chief guest. The beneficiaries got financial help of TK 77, 42, 300 from the project being implemented by Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives with the financial support of the government and World Bank. Each of the beneficiaries received cash support ranging from TK 7200 to 11,000.
Speaking at the function, Mahabub Ara Begum Gini said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina adopted the project for empowering the poor mothers and ensuring nutrition for their children through the conditional cash transfer.
Organizing secretary of district Awami League Mridul Mostofi Zontu, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rafiul Alam, UP members, political leaders and local elite were present on the occasion.
