The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Chairman, Farhadul Islam, disclosed that the government was in talks to introduce a system of alternating holidays for schools. He shared this during a workshop in the capital on Thursday.

The workshop, organized by Plan International Bangladesh and Eco Social Development Organisation (ESDO), focused on the Gender Responsive School and Community Safety Initiatives project.

NCTB Chairman highlighted the need for flexible holiday timing, suggesting adjustments based on regional needs.

Proposed changes aim to ensure timely closures, particularly in North Bengal during the winter  and in flood-prone areas during the summer. Detailed plans are expected to emerge soon, offering tailored holidays for different regions. ESDO Executive Director Md. Afroz Mahal and Director of Programme Management and Implementation at Plan International Bangladesh also addressed the workshop under Shahid Uz Zaman's chairmanship.
