Govt implementing massive dev projects in hills

To bring an end into the two-decade more long bush war in hills and restoring standing peace in the region, the then prime minister Sheikh Hasina made the historic Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) accord on December 2 in 1997. As per the agreement, our government has been trying to execute all the provisions of the deal from the beginning. So, tremendous development activities are being implemented in hilly areas by the government as part of execution of the pact. 

That is why the people in hills are no longer lagged behind in all sorts of upliftments as like as the people of other parts of the country. Hill people are also going toward equally.  Liberation War Minister AKM Mozammel Haque MP said this while addressing opening ceremony of a 5-day long ‘Bangabandhu National Adventure Festival-2020’ as the chief guest. 

The inaugural programme organised jointly by Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board (CHTDB) and Bangladesh Adventure Foundation (BAF) at the compound of Karnafuli College at Kaptai upazila under Rangamati district on Saturday at 10:00am.

To mark the hundred years of birth anniversary of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the adventure festival is being organised for the first time ever in CHT.  Main objective of the festival is to pay homage to the great leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, strengthening of tourism industry in hilly region and encourage the young generation in adventure activities. 

A total of 100 participants were nominated for the event. Of them, 31 participants from three hill districts, 53 from other parts of the country and 16 are foreigners.  Moreover, 25 female are going to take part in this event and there are 16 foreign instructors will join to conduct the whole festival. 

Ocean sailor and adventure Anne Quemere from Franch, Dipankat TalukderMP, Basanti ChakmaMP, Kaptai Navy commander Captain MA Mukit Khan, deputy commissioner AKM Mamumur Rashid and Rangamati superintendent of police Md. Alamgir Kabir were the special guest. Chairman of CHTDB, Naba Bikram Kishore Tripura, chaired the function while its vice-chairman Shahinul Islam addressed the welcome speech.
