The government’s time befitting measures to empower women across the country have drawn a lot of praise. The uncompromising support which the government is giving to our women in order to make them self reliant is commendable, to say the least.
A recent initiative in the ICT sector, to provide training to some 42,206 educated unemployed women across the country by this month-end has worked wonders. After receiving this training, many women got jobs, unemployment decreased in rural areas as well.
More projects like this need to
be implemented to push and
encourage our women forward
In our country, male domination in the ICT sector is very much visible. Women’s participation in this sector is really taken into account. One of the main reasons for this is the stereotyped thought that women cannot handle or perform technology based jobs. Therefore, this initiative will certainly change the viewpoint and encourage more women to empower themselves through this booming sector.
More projects like this need to be implemented to push and encourage our women forward. The one time fee of Tk 1000 in this project should be reduced if not completely diminished as no one should lack behind because of money.
Gone are the days when women used to sit at home and look after household chores. Our government is promoting women empowerment in the ICT sector and such endeavour will not only give the companies more diversified skills but will also make women’s influence in the ICT sector noteworthy and equivalent to men.
