It is known that due to the influence of the new moon with the cyclone, the water level has increased in the tide and several areas including Khatunganj have submerged. Knee-deep water accumulates in houses, shops and markets overflowing the road. As a result, furniture and shop goods get wet. Flooded areas are flooded by the garbage coming up from the drains along with tidal water. Residents of the area including businessmen suffered greatly due to this.
The traders of Khatunganj said that shops and warehouses are drowning in rain and tidal water. In Khatunganj, the tidal water has risen two to three inches more than the previous tide. He said, the tidal water has caused a lot of damage to the products in our shops and warehouses. Especially the bottom three to four sacks of ginger, onion, garlic and turmeric are soaked in water. Due to this, the quality of the products has also been damaged. All traders are in the same situation. All in all, our goods worth hundreds of crores taka were lost in one night. There was no product floating in the water. We will dry the wet products in the sun. But I won't get a good price. Because onion, ginger, garlic are perishable products.
