Today (Friday) is a very special day for the Bangalee nation. The whole nation is very excited as it is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Independence and National Day- 2021 today.  It is the most precious day of the Bangalee people as March 26 is the day of establishing self-identity of the Bangalee nation and breaking the shackles of subjugation as well.

On this day, at the first hour of March 26, 1971, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman formally proclaimed the independence of Bangladesh through telegrams, tele-printers and EPR wireless, spreading the message all over the country.

Immediately after the declaration of the independence of Bangladesh, the Liberation War began. And after the nine-month long bloody war, on December 16 in 1971, Bangladesh emerged as an independent and sovereign country under the leadership of Bangabandhu. The coveted independence came at the cost of supreme sacrifice of three million people and the honour of nearly half a million women.

We believe being imbued with the spirit of the War

of Independence, we all will be relentlessly working to

develop our country in order to transform Bangladesh

into a safe and peaceful home for our next generation

We believe today is a new day — and a new inspiration to make the dreams of Bangabandhu for building ‘Sonar Bangla come true under the dynamic leadership of his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The auspicious occasion of the nation is being celebrated through various colourful programs abiding by the health directives in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic across the country.

On this August occasion, we recall with deep gratitude the Greatest Bangalee of all times, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. We also remember all the martyrs and all the valiant freedom fighters who shed blood for the nation. We recall with gratitude our foreign friends who had extended their whole-hearted support and cooperation for the cause of our liberation.

Bangladesh’s achievements in different economic and social indicators are now subjects of research in many foreign countries. Bangladesh has graduated from the LDCs and none would now be able to label Bangladesh as a “poor” country as well as would not be able to make any negative remarks to undermine its position among the developing countries of the world. Today we have become a self-respecting country holding our heads high.

We believe being imbued with the spirit of the War of Independence, we all will be relentlessly working to develop our country in order to transform Bangladesh into a safe and peaceful home for our next generation.

We also think Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government will implement the ‘Vision-2021’, ‘Vision-2041’ and ‘Delta Plan-2100’, to build a hunger-poverty-free developed-prosperous Bangladesh as envisioned by the Father of

the Nation.
