Gold worth Tk 70 lakh recovered in Damurhuda

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members recovered nine gold bars worth about Tk 70 lakh, in an abandoned condition from Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga on Tuesday afternoon. The gold bars weighing 1.5 kg were recovered from a bamboo garden in a field near Chakulia village under Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga, stated a press release issued by BGB Chuadanga-6 Battalion on Tuesday night.

BGB members received secret information that a large consignment of gold would be smuggled through the field of Chakulia village in Damurhuda upazila. Based on this information, the commander of Chuadanga-6 battalion Lt. Colonel Mohammad Khalekuzzaman raided the field in Chakulia village. 

BGB members at the time recovered an abandoned packet from a bamboo garden in the field. Later, searching the packet they found those nine gold bars.
