March 18 is Global Recycling Day. The day is celebrated in Bangladesh with various activities as well as all over the world. Highlighting the significance of the day, Barishal based social organization Work for Progress (WFP) arranged a creative competition and exhibition subject to environment and pollution related painting, photography and recycle innovation thoughts.
The painting competition and photography exhibition subject to environment and pollution started on the open stage of Barishal Shilpakala Academy at 4 pm on last Friday, March 18, 2022. Day-centred discussions started at 6pm and winner gift, certificates and fruit saplings were distributed among all the participants.
Mr. Asif Moinur Chowdhury, Teacher of Coastal Studies and Disaster Management Department of Barisal University and Mentor of Alliance for Youth and Development was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion. He called on all to be aware of the need to reduce global warming with special emphasis on reducing environmental pollution, reducing the use of plastics, proper use and reuse of natural resources.
On the other hand, Syed Nazmul Alam Avi, Member Secretary of Work for Progress (WFP), expressed his hope to take part in various social activities to prevent environmental pollution in the future as well. He said, “Our organization is always aware of the environment. We have started the work of conducting some studies on the prevention of environmental pollution in Barisal. Our goal is to bring about a positive change in the drainage and waste management of this area and bring the rate of carbon emissions in Barisal to zero in tandem with the world.”
Mr. Shahidul Islam Shishir, Convener of Work for Progress (WFP) presided over the function.
