German team meets DU VC

A five-member delegation led by Dr Katja Lasch, Regional Director of the German Acacemy Exchange Service (DAAD) in New Delhi called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman on Sunday at the latter’s office of the university. Other team members were Professor Ute Vothkuechl, Anuroopa Dixit, Rumana Kabir and Tamara Kabir.

DU Geology Department Professor Dr Muhammad Qumrul Hassan, Director of DU Public Relations Office Mahmood Alam and Dr Anwar Zahid were present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest. They underscored the need of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on various fields between DU and DAAD. The possibilities of increasing the number of German scholarships for DU students and arranging short visit of DU teachers’ especially young ones in German universities were also discussed. DU VC laid emphasize on further strengthening academic cooperation between DU and DAAD to explore new avenues of collaboration.

Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman thanked the guests for their visit to and keen interest in enhancing academic collaboration with DU.
