A general diary (GD) has been filed against Bangladesh National Team cricketer Taskin Ahmed for allegedly assaulting and threatening an individual named Sifatur Rahman Sourav in Mirpur area of the capital.
Sifatur Rahman filed the general diary with Mirpur Model Police Station on Sunday.
"We have received a complaint and an investigation is underway. Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings," Mirpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sajjad Roman said.
He also mentioned that Taskin and Sourav are known to be friends.
According to the complaint, Taskin allegedly called Sourav and asked him to meet in the Mirpur-1 area. Upon his arrival, Taskin reportedly assaulted him by punching and beating him.
Sourav further alleged that Taskin issued threats and attempted to intimidate him during the incident.
However, the reason behind Taskin Ahmed's alleged assault on Sourav is still unknown.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook post at 5:11pm, Taskin Ahmed urged everyone not to be misled by "rumours".
He wrote, "A lot is being said about an incident where I raised my hand against a childhood friend. I don't think anyone should be confused by these rumours — it's not respectful to me, my family, or my friend. We have spoken about what happened.
"I just want to say one thing: the story being spread is different — the reality is something else."
