Gazipur city, IFC ink Tk 800cr deal on compost processing

International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Gachha Regional Office of Gazipur City Corporation signed an agreement worth Tk 800 crore to make compost manure by processing human wastes

GCC Mayor Advocate Mohammad Jahangir Alam and IFC’s Farhan signed the deal on Tuesday on behalf of their respective sides.

GCC Chief Executive Officer Aminul Islam, Additional Chief Engineer Akbar Hossain, Supervising Engineer Mujibur Rahman Kajal, councilors and officials were present. Mayor Jahangir Alam told reporters, "The government has given the city corporation a project to manage the sewage of the city dwellers." 

This project will produce compost manure through fecal processing. Initially, an agreement worth Tk 600 crore has been signed. 

The amount will increase in the next stage.
