Ganguly, Kohli put rift speculations to rest as they shake hands

Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly and Royal Challengers Bangalore's star batter Virat Kohli shook hands putting the speculations of a rift to rest on Saturday night after RCB lost to DC by 7 wickets.

In their previous encounter earlier in the tournament in Bangalore, various videos suggested that the duo did not shake hands after the game. Multiple reports also suggested that both have unfollowed each other on the Instagram.

The alleged source of friction between Ganguly and Kohli dates back to last year when the latter stepped down from captaincy, and the former was still BCCI president.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals batting coach Shane Watson had said there was definitely fire in Virat Kohli's belly the day RCB played his side, and he wasn't sure if the reason was Kohli's tension with Sourav Ganguly.

When the host the podcast The Grade Cricketer quizzed Watson about the internet being set alight over Virat and Sourav having a bit of stare off and brushing each other in the post game handshakes, he laughed that it could well be "rumour mongering, but I'm not sure."

He reckoned whatever the reason, it spelt bad news for the opposition. "There was definitely some fire in Virat's belly the other night, and from an opposition point of view that's the last thing you need as well," he said.

On Saturday night, Phil Salt came up with an outrageous display of ball striking as Delhi Capitals kept themselves alive in the Indian Premier League with a thumping seven-wicket win over RCB.

Virat Kohli completed his 'homecoming' with a landmark fifty before Mahipal Lomror came up with a career-best knock to take Royal Challengers Bangalore to 181 for four. Needing to win every game from here on to have a shot at a playoff berth, Delhi's overseas batters played fearlessly to gun down the total in 16.4 overs. Besides Salt's sensational 87 off 45 balls, David Warner Mitchell Marsh and Rilee Rossouw produced timely cameos.
