Gal Gadot won’t star in new ‘Wonder Woman’ movie

DC Studios has officially confirmed that Gal Gadot will not return as Wonder Woman in their upcoming movie. The announcement was made by James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday.

The new film will take a fresh direction, focusing on the story of Wonder Woman’s daughter in Themyscira. This marks a major shift from the earlier movies, where Gal Gadot became globally popular for playing Diana Prince in Justice League and two Wonder Woman films.

This decision is part of DC Studios’ larger plan to reboot its cinematic universe with new characters and stories. Though Gadot’s name won’t appear in the new project, there’s still a possibility she might make a cameo appearance.

Fans worldwide, especially in Israel, have expressed disappointment. Gal Gadot holds a special place in Israeli hearts as a national icon. Last March, she became the first Israeli to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, an honour credited largely to her role as Wonder Woman.

Besides the new Wonder Woman project, DC Studios is moving ahead with several other productions. A new Superman film is set to release next month, followed by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in June 2026, Clayface in September 2026, and Dynamic Duo in June 2028. Gunn also hinted at a second Superman movie, though it will not be a direct sequel to the upcoming one.

Details about the cast, director, or release date for the new Wonder Woman film have not been shared yet. DC Studios and Warner Bros. have also remained silent in response to inquiries from major entertainment outlets. Fans now eagerly wait to see who will step into the legendary Amazonian world next.
