Freshers’ reception held at IU

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Ksuhtia welcomed its new students through central orientation programmes amid much enthusiasm and fanfare events on Monday.

IU organised the programme to receive the first year honours courses students at the Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman auditorium of the university around 10:30 am. 

Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, IU vice chancellor was present here as the chief guest with Prof Dr Saidur Rahman, students’ advisor of the university chaired the session.

Pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha attended the programme as special guests while the programme started with welcome speech by the university registrar in charge SM Abdul Latif.

Dr Arun Kumar Basak, an emeritus Professor of Rajshahi University Physics department addressed the function as the chief discussant.

While addressing the programme, Prof Dr Basak suggested the students to not memorize their text. Students have to realize what they have learnt from their each class in the university.

The students failed to cope with their present situation due to their text memorization. They must have to cherish dream to reach the pinnacle of success. Otherwise their ultimate destination would be terminated he added.

The newcomers have to discover something new that never had been done before, he also added.

Prof Dr Arbinda Shah, dean of Business Administration faculty, Proctor Prof Dr Paresh Chandra Barman, Prof Dr Zakaria Rahman, chairman of Marketing department spoke at the event, among others.

Around 1500 teachers, officials and students of the university appeared at the programme and afterward a cultural programme participated by university students held here.
