Free seeds, fertilisers distributed among 2100 farmers in Jibannagar

Free paddy seeds and fertilizers have been distributed among 2,100 small and marginal farmers in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga under the incentive program to increase aus paddy production. The fertilizer seeds were distributed at the Upazila Parishad auditorium at 10 am on Sunday. 

Chuadanga-2 MP Haji Mohammad Ali Azgar Togar was present as the chief guest and distributed free seeds and chemical fertilizers among the farmers. The chief guest said in his speech that Sheikh Hasina's agri-friendly government has been providing subsidy to farmers from the very beginning. Along with the advancement of technology has given them modern agricultural machinery. As a result, there is a touch of modernity in agriculture. Jibannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Ariful Islam presided over the free fertilizer and seed distribution program, Jivannagar Upazila Parishad Chairman Haji Md Hafizur Rahman, Jivannagar Upazila Awami League President Mohammad Nazrul Islam, the mayor. Rafiqul Islam, former chairman of Upazila Parishad Golam Mortuza, vice chairman of Upazila Parishad Abdus Salam Isha, Upazila Agriculture Officer Sharmin Akter and others. Farmer Shamsuddin of Raipur Union said, "We are very happy to get free fertilizer and seeds provided by Sheikh Hasina. Hopefully with proper care Aus production can be improved.”

Sharmin Akhter, Upazila Agriculture Officer, said that 5 kg of seeds, 20 kg of DAP fertilizer and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer have been distributed free of cost among 2,100 small and marginal farmers in Jivannagar Upazila to increase aus production under the current aus season incentive program. Farmers will be greatly benefited by getting free fertilizers and seeds. In addition, free foot pumps, hand sprayers, budding knives and pruning shear machines have been distributed among the farmer groups formed under the project of setting up family nutrition gardens in uncultivated fallow lands and backyards. During this time, under the integrated management of agricultural mechanization project, various agricultural equipment including power trailers have been distributed among the farmers at 50 percent subsidized price.
