Free flow of information to be ensured at grass-roots

Martuza inaugurates 5-day RTI camp at Monirampur

Information Commission wants to ensure free flow of information at the grassroots level as well as at remote areas of the country. As part of their move, Martuza Ahmed, Chief Information Commissioner, visited Monirapur upazila in Jashore and inaugurated a five-day camp on Right to Information on Tuesday. 

The camp is held at the CTK Ideal Junior Secondary Girls’ School premises at Chalkidanga under Monirampur upazila of Jashore. MRDI arranged the programme under better governance for better services funded by UK Aid and Manusher Jonno Foundation.  The camp will be continued until March 1 to make people aware of rights to information.

Shaheen Anam Executive Director of Manusher Jonno Foundation chaired the programme while Mohammad Shafiul Arif, Deputy Commissioner of Jashore, Hasibur Rahman Mukur, Executive Director of MRDI, Nazma Khanam, UZ Chairman and Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, Upazila Nirbahi Officer were present among others.  In his speech, the chief information commissioner said that transparency of democracy depends on rights to information.
