Frauds cheat Hajj pilgrims

A section of frauds are active to con people who want to go for Hajj. The organised gangs are taking money from them in the name of Hajj package. But, no hajj-related activities have started yet in the country.

There is even uncertainty over sending Hajj pilgrimage from Bangladesh this year. There might not be an opportunity of performing Hajj for the Bangladeshi pilgrims due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the organised frauds have already started collecting money from the innocent people.

Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, Hajj activities were limited in last two years. None from outside of Saudi Arabia could take part in Hajj. Only a small number of people living in Saudi Arabia have got the opportunity to perform the Hajj maintain health guidelines.

As the pandemic situation is not normal, the Saudi government is yet to make a decision on whether any outsiders can perform Hajj or not.

The religious affairs ministry of Bangladesh had already issued a notification to be aware of such wrongdoers.

The notification said people will be informed timely by the Ministry of Religious Affairs if the Hajj activities begin.

According to the ministry information, the cliques are claiming themselves as representatives of the religious affairs ministry. Then they are taking big amount of money from those who are willing to perform Hajj.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Md. Faridul Haque Khan said necessary steps have been taken to bring these fraudsters under the law. I urge everyone to be aware of these frauds.

Meanwhile, the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) said that it would seek help from various agencies to warn those wishing to go on the Hajj.

HAAB President M Shahadat Hossain Taslim said, “It is the responsibility of the agencies to warn the Hajj pilgrims. Besides, Hajj pilgrims have also been urged to warn the people around them.”

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are conducting several operations to arrest the wrongdoers.
